Metal Buildings

Metal Buildings, built by one builder

Buying a metal building is the easy part. Getting a steel building that passes permit, sits on the right slab and stands up to a Colorado winter is where the real work is. The building has to be engineered for the ground snow load at your address, which climbs fast with elevation, and for wind that can be fierce on the plains and the Palmer Divide. Hail on the Front Range makes the roof steel worth choosing with care. The slab has to match the frame's anchor layout and handle expansive clay. A contractor who sells and installs keeps all of it on one desk.

Colorado Barn Builders is the building brand of Quality Garage Builders, a licensed and insured general contractor in Parker with more than 25 years of construction experience. We sell and install metal buildings in every town within 100 miles, from Denver, Thornton and Arvada to Colorado Springs, Strasburg and Summit County. We design the building with you, engineer it for your site, handle the permit, prepare the ground and pour the slab, then erect the red-iron or light-gauge steel frame, roof, walls and doors. Insulation and the interior finish come from the same builder.

  • “I am so appreciative of the quality, responsiveness, and value that Mike Fowler and his crew performed on completely remodeling and expanding our kitchen including moving walls. He did it in a timely manner, provided progress updates often and finished the job in record time. We get compliments all the time on the quality of the work and how our kitchen has been completely transformed. He coordinated or did himself all the carpentry, electrical, appliance installation, cabinets, and countertop installation after we approved the plan he drew out for us. I also used him to add a shower to my laundry room, cut down a huge tree in my yard, and put a new face around my fireplace. I would highly recommend Mike for ANY remodeling work you are considering for your house. His prices are competitive too”

His only goal is to ensure that customer is happy and he doesn't hesitate to redo things if customer wanted differently. I was very happy with his work and did recommend to a friend who is doing his complete basement. he is very affordable versus some of the crazy quotes we got.”

Questions

Metal Buildings FAQs

How much does a metal building cost in Colorado?

It depends on size, eave height, doors, insulation and the snow and wind loads at your site, since a building in the foothills needs a heavier frame and roof than one on the plains. The slab and site work are a big part of the job, and a finished building is a different job from a bare shell. We visit the site and give you a free quote that covers the building, the slab and the installation.

How are your metal buildings built for Colorado snow and wind?

Each one is engineered for the ground snow load and wind exposure at its address. Snow loads are set by the county and rise fast with elevation, so a building in Bailey or Woodland Park needs far more roof than one in Brighton. On the plains and the Palmer Divide, anchoring and door bracing matter as much as the frame. We also build the slab for expansive soils and slope the grade so water runs away.

Do I need a permit for a metal building?

In most cases, yes. The county issues it on unincorporated land and the city inside town limits, and they will want engineered drawings for your site and a foundation plan. HOA and covenant rules in acreage subdivisions can limit steel siding, colors and height. We check your parcel, work with the building department and handle the permit for you.

What is the difference between red iron and light-gauge steel?

Red iron is a pre-engineered metal building with heavy structural steel columns and rafters, the usual choice for wide clear spans, tall doors and commercial use. Light-gauge steel uses lighter cold-formed members, which suits garages, carports and smaller shops. Both can be engineered for Colorado loads, and we recommend the frame that fits your size, use and site.

Do you only sell the building, or install it too?

We sell and install. One builder handles the building, engineering, permit, site prep, slab, erection, doors, insulation and finish, so the slab matches the anchor plan and no part of the job waits on another contractor. You get one schedule, one point of contact and weekly progress updates.
