Commercial Metal Buildings
Commercial Metal Buildings, built by one builder
A growing business on the Front Range usually hits the same wall: the trucks, equipment and inventory have outgrown the yard, the rented space or the old shop. A commercial building has more to clear than a barn on acreage. The city or county wants stamped drawings, a site plan, fire department review and energy code insulation, and every week the building isn't done is another week of paying for the old space. What you need is a building laid out around how your crew works, engineered for Colorado snow and wind, and built on a schedule you can plan around.
The builder behind Colorado Barn Builders is Quality Garage Builders, a licensed and insured general contractor in Parker with more than 25 years in construction. We build commercial metal buildings within 100 miles, across the Denver metro, Castle Rock, Brighton and Greeley, Colorado Springs and Pueblo, and out on the eastern plains. One accountable builder runs the whole job: design and engineering, permits, site prep, the slab, the steel or post-frame building, doors, insulation and the office finish-out. You get weekly progress updates from the first site visit to the final walk-through.

What's included
What goes into our commercial metal buildings
- 01
Company and contractor shops
Multi-bay shops with a roll-up door on each bay, like the five-bay cream company shop we built, with room to park trucks, stage materials and work out of the weather.
- 02
Warehouses
Clear-span steel warehouses with the eave height your racking and forklifts need, loading doors where trucks back in and an open floor with no columns in the way.
- 03
Self-storage and storage units
Rows of drive-up units with roll-up doors, laid out to the unit mix you plan to rent, for household goods, contractor gear, boats and RVs.
- 04
Office, restroom and mezzanine finish-out
Insulated, drywalled office space, a restroom and a break room inside the building, with a mezzanine above the office for storage.
- 05
Wash bays and heated floors
Trench drains for washing trucks and equipment, and in-floor radiant heat tubing laid before the pour so the shop stays warm and dries out fast in a Front Range winter.
- 06
Built to code and the site plan
Engineering for the snow and wind at your site, energy code insulation, fire separations where the code calls for them and a site plan that covers parking, drainage and access.

“Mike is a true professional in every way. Versatile, reliable, well skilled, and extremely knowledgeable. Easy to work with and a hard worker. His pricing is reasonable and his estimates for his work were spot on. I trusted him completely, as I am an absentee owner and could not be on site to oversee progress. He gave me updates and photos. A great find. Would recommend without any reservation. Hire him if u want it done right and on time.”

A big job · HomeAdvisor review
“Mike was great at communicating with me and was incredibly competitive in his pricing. The work was done quickly and was high quality. I would absolutely recommend his company to anyone needing work done on their houses.”

Home project · HomeAdvisor review
“I am so appreciative of the quality, responsiveness, and value that Mike Fowler and his crew performed on completely remodeling and expanding our kitchen including moving walls. He did it in a timely manner, provided progress updates often and finished the job in record time. We get compliments all the time on the quality of the work and how our kitchen has been completely transformed. He coordinated or did himself all the carpentry, electrical, appliance installation, cabinets, and countertop installation after we approved the plan he drew out for us. I also used him to add a shower to my laundry room, cut down a huge tree in my yard, and put a new face around my fireplace. I would highly recommend Mike for ANY remodeling work you are considering for your house. His prices are competitive too”

Kitchen remodel and expansion · HomeAdvisor review
“Mike has done my entire unfinished basement and his work ethics and willingness to work with changing design needs is exceptional. Mike's patience and quality of work is exceptional. His only goal is to ensure that customer is happy and he doesn't hesitate to redo things if customer wanted differently. I was very happy with his work and did recommend to a friend who is doing his complete basement. he is very affordable versus some of the crazy quotes we got.”

Questions
Commercial Metal Buildings FAQs
How much does a commercial metal building cost?
It comes down to size, eave height and what goes inside. The number of bays and overhead doors, insulation to meet the energy code, an office and restroom finish-out, heated floors, and the grading, utilities, parking and drainage the site needs all move the price. What your city or county requires in plan review can add work too. We visit the site, look at how you will use the building and give you a free quote.
What permits does a commercial building need in Colorado?
More than a barn or garage does. Expect a building permit with engineered drawings, plan review that usually includes the fire department, and a site plan for parking, drainage and access, plus design standards inside some city limits. On unincorporated land, county zoning decides whether a commercial building or contractor yard is allowed on your parcel at all. We check the zoning first and handle the permit from application to final inspection.
How do Colorado soils and weather affect a commercial building?
They set the foundation and the frame. Expansive clay and bentonite under much of the Front Range can heave a slab, so we over-excavate where the soil calls for it, build a compacted base and design the slab and drainage to handle movement. The frame is engineered for the ground snow load your county sets and for the wind on the plains and the Palmer Divide, and wide overhead doors are braced to match. Roof insulation with vapor control keeps condensation from dripping on stock and equipment on cold nights.
Can I put a shop for my business on my acreage?
Sometimes, and the county decides. Zoning on rural and residential parcels often allows a home business or contractor storage with limits on employees, signs, outdoor storage and traffic, while other uses need a special review or a rezoning. HOA and covenant rules in acreage subdivisions can add their own limits. We check what your parcel allows before you design around it.
How long does it take to build a commercial metal building?
Plan review and permitting often take longer than the construction, so we start the drawings and the permit application early. Once the permit is issued, the slab, the steel delivery and the weather set the pace, and a finished, heated office adds time. You get a schedule up front and weekly progress updates, so you can plan the move out of your old space.
